After completing my graduate research at the University of Tokyo, I worked at a large food manufacturer working as a researcher. I then worked in an IT venture company where I was involved in launching new projects. After the company went public on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, I set up my own company, EcoBrand, in 2008. At EcoBrand, I worked as a consultant supporting companies to launch their environmental programmes. I also formed an organization, SONRAKU LLP (a limited liability partnership) implementing projects to make mountain regions more sustainable. From 2011 I moved to Mimasaka City and have been involved in the regeneration of rice terraced fields and maintaining the "Satoyama" eco-system. My dream is for Japan to become a “nation of the environment, and a role model for the world”. I believe that the combination of Japanese technology and ancient wisdom can contribute to achieving a more sustainable society in the world.
