はじめまして、東京理科大学のiGEMチーム「iGEM TUS」です。

iGEM(The International Genetically Engineered Machine)とは、合成生物学の学部生主体の国際大会です。

各チームは遺伝子工学技術を駆使して遺伝子パーツを組み換え、その独創性や価値、有用性などを競い合います。

マサチューセッツ工科大学の授業の一環として始まったiGEMは、2016年の大会では42か国5600人もの学部生が参加する大きな大会となりました。

学部生ならではの斬新な切り口から合成生物学の発展にかかわっています。

iGEM TUSは、東京理科大学ではじめて結成されたiGEMチームです。昨年の春に発足したばかりで、今年の大会に向けて準備を進めています。現在は理工学部応用生物科学科の朽津研究室・古屋研究室・諸橋研究室（五十音順）にお世話になり活動しております。

また、iGEMは合成生物学の大会ですが、生物学に限らない幅広い専門知識が要求されます。現在の当チームメンバーは理工学部応用生物科学科の学生が主体ですが、他学科の学生も増えてきております。今後は理工系総合大学である東京理科大学ならではのアプローチでiGEMに挑んでいきたいです。合成生物学の世界大会に、一見かかわりのなさそうな分野の学生と共に活動していくことはお互いにとってとても良い刺激、経験になることでしょう。学科間の枠組みにとらわれず、幅広い視点で科学を考えていく団体を目指します。

 ▼これまでの活動

2016年6月頃　iGEM TUS 発足

　　　7~８月　団体として活動していくための基盤づくり　

　 　9～10月　過去の論文の勉強会・理大祭（東京理科大学の学園祭）準備

　　　　11月　理大祭にて、遺伝子工学や大腸菌などについての展示や、ブロッコリーDNAの抽出実験の実演

▼目的

・学生のうちから最先端な研究を主体的に行う

・研究成果を国際大会で世界中の学生と競い合う

▼資金の使い道

　iGEMに出場するためには、まず団体の参加登録費として3月末までに52万円が必要となります。さらに、個人の参加費・研究費・ボストンまでの渡航費・宿泊費等、莫大な資金が必要となります。今回は、そのうちの団体の参加登録費52万円をご支援いただきたいと思い、クラウドファンディングにチャレンジしました。

今年の大会に参加できるかどうかはこれからの活動にかかっており、このクラウドファンディングでの挑戦は参加実現のための第一歩となっています。

hello, we are iGEM team of Tokyo University of Science, 'iGEM TUS'.

iGEM( The international Genetically Engineered Machine) competition is the premiere student team competition in Synthetic Biology.

Each team will solve real-world challenges by building genetically engineered biological systems with standard, interchangeable parts. Teams design, build and test their projects over the summer and gather to present their work and compete at the annual Jamboree.

iGEM, started at MIT is now one of the biggest synthetic biological competitions and in the competition of 2016, 5600 students from 42 countries participated.

Our school, TUS is the first time to participate this competition. Our team was formed in last spring. We have been preparing to enter this year's competition and mainly composed of students of Biological Science major. But there are some students of Technological Machine major as iGEM competiotion needs knowledge of not only biology but technology and social issues that are happening in the world. We are trying to be a team that can solve and develop genetically engineered biological systems from many perspectives.

Purpose

1.  Doing latest research proactively from while we are undergraduate.

2. competing our result of research with students from all over the world.

How to use with funds

To enter iGEM competiton, we will need to submit the team registration fee: $4,500 USD/\520,000 JPY. In addition, we have to submit individual registration fee, travel expenses to Boston, and hotel expenses. These will be an extraordinary fee. This time, we are hoping to collect the team registration fee which we have to submit at the end of March.

We are hoping to participate iGEM competition from bottom of heart and your help will let us challenge this big competition.
