1秒で決まる私たちの運命、それがSTEM Racing。

毎日、そして時には夜通しプロジェクトに励む学生。それが私たちです。マシンの製造・制作・資金調達をし、実際のF1チームのような作業をこなしています。

私たちのSTEM Racingチーム、Team Hayateはアメリカン • スクール • イン • ジャパンから集まった高校生6人で構成されたチームです。私たちは2026年のSTEM Racing日本大会で優勝し、日本代表として世界大会への出場権を獲得しました。

F1がスポンサーをするSTEM Racingとは

STEM Racingとは、Formula 1が公式スポンサーである競技であり、生徒たちは圧縮二酸化炭素で動くミニチュアF1カーを設計・製作し、20メートルのドラッグレースで競い合う国際的なSTEM教育プログラムです。

この大会はまだ、日本ではあまり知られていませんが、世界的規模では大きく展開されています。これまでに65カ国以上で180万人を超えるの学生が参加れており、毎年世界各国で国際大会を勝ち抜いた学生600人ほどが世界大会でワールドチャンピオンを目指して競います。

また、この大会には様々なレベルがあり、大会のレギュレーションが一番優しい小学生向けのプライマリークラスから中高校生向けのプロクラスまであります。その中で私たちは最も難易度の高いプロクラスに挑んでおり、資金調達から技術開発まで、実際のF1チームのような作業をこなします。

STEM Racingでは、マシンの性能だけでなく、チーム運営やブランディング、資金調達、そしてサステナビリティといった多角的な視点で評価されます。私たちは、この『総合力』が問われる点に強く惹かれ始め、11ヶ月といった膨大な時間を費やし世界大会に挑みます。

『総合力』が問われるとは

STEM Racingでは総合として、レポート作成、プレゼンテーション、社会的インパクト、マシンの制作も採点基準です。レポートの面ではこれまでどのようにチーム運営をしてきたことやどのように資金調達を行ったかの説明をします。プレゼンテーションではどのように困難やSTEM Racingから学びを得られたかを説明し、どのように実社会で学べるようなことを学べたかも説明をします。そして、大会の目玉である車はミリ単位で車体が測られ、どのように車のリサーチや研究を行ったかも説明し、レースを行います。

プロジェクト背景

STEM Racingは、私たちが長年の夢を追い求める場所となっています。例えば、プロジェクトマネージメントを行っているソバック・リオンが初めてシンガポールのF1レースを観戦したとき、ピットガレージで一丸となって作業を進めるエンジニアたちの姿に、心を打たれました。その瞬間から、F1の世界で働くことがリオンの夢となりました。その夢を胸に、あらゆる機会を探し求めていました。しかし、高校生がF1の道を進むのは簡単ではありませんでした。そんなときに出会ったのがSTEM Racingでした。その瞬間から、まるで自分がF1チームを率いているかのような感覚になり、初めて夢が手の届く場所にあると感じることができたのです。

なぜご支援が必要か

世界大会への挑戦には、多くの費用が必要です。

マシン開発費、研究費、材料費、マーケティング費、広報活動費、旅費など、総額約500万円の予算を見込んでいます。

昨年は資金不足により、思うようなマシン開発や大会準備ができませんでした。

「次こそは、悔いなく世界に挑戦したい。」

その思いから、今年は早い段階である10月から活動を開始しました。しかし、高校生6人だけで500万円を捻出するのは容易ではありません。

企業スポンサーへのご協力もお願いしていますが、必要な資金にはまだ届いていないのが現状です。

このままでは、十分な準備ができないだけでなく、世界大会への出場自体が危ぶまれる可能性もあります。

だからこそ、皆さまのお力が必要です。

500万といった膨大な費用を到達するには私たちはそれぞれ目標を立てました。

最後に

日本代表のSTEM Racingチームは世界大会で優勝はしたことはありません。そして強豪国に立ち向かい、勝ち抜くことは簡単なことではありません。

しかし、皆様のお力が私たちの大きな力となり、ここからさらにチーム一丸となり世界大会に向け準備をしてまいります。課題に真摯に一つ一つ取り組み、STEM Racing世界大会で優勝を目指し、日本チームが優勝したことにより今後多くの日本の学生にSTEM Racingに参加することを祈っております。

Greeting

Our fate is decided in one second: that is STEM Racing.

We are high school students who pour ourselves into this project every day, sometimes through  the night. We handle everything from manufacturing and building the car to fundraising, carrying out the same work as a real F1 team.

Our STEM Racing team, Team Hayate, is made up of six high school students from the American School in Japan. We won the 2026 STEM Racing Japan National Finals and earned the right to     represent Japan at the World Finals in October.

What is STEM Racing?

STEM Racing is an international STEM education program officially sponsored by Formula 1, in which students design and build miniature F1 cars powered by compressed air and compete in a 20-meter drag race.

While still not widely known in Japan, the competition has grown to a significant scale worldwide. To date, more than 1.8 million students from over 65 countries have participated, and each year, approximately 700 students who have won their national competitions come together at the World Finals to compete for the title of World Champion.

The competition spans multiple levels, from the Primary Class for elementary school students,  where the regulations are most accessible, all the way up to the Pro Class for middle and high school students. We compete in the Pro Class, the most demanding level, where we handle everything from fundraising to technical development, just like a real F1 team.

In STEM Racing, teams are evaluated not only on car performance but also on team management, branding, fundraising, and sustainability, resulting in a truly multidimensional set of criteria. It is this demand for complete, well-rounded capability that drew us in deeply, and we have devoted the past 11 months to preparing for the World Finals.

What "Complete Capability" Means

In STEM Racing, scoring covers a broad range, such as: report writing, presentations, social impact, and car construction. In the report, teams explain how they managed the team and how they approached fundraising. In the presentation, teams describe what challenges they faced, what they learned from STEM Racing, and how those lessons connect to the real world. And the car, the centerpiece of the competition, is measured down to the millimeter; teams must also explain the research and development process behind their design before the race.

Project Background

STEM Racing has become the place where we pursue long-held dreams. For example, when Team Manager Rion Soback attended his first F1 race in Singapore, he was moved by the sight of engineers working together as one in the pit garage. From that moment, working in the world of F1 became his dream. Driven by that ambition, he searched for every possible opportunity, but for a high school student, finding a path into F1 was far from easy. That is when he discovered STEM Racing. From that moment, it felt as if he was leading his own F1 team, and for the first time, his dream of working in F1 felt within reach.

Why We Need Your Support

Competing at the World Finals requires significant funding.

Between car development, research, materials, marketing, public outreach, and travel costs, we are projecting a total budget of approximately ¥5,000,000.

Last year, limited funding meant we were unable to develop our car or prepare for the                competition to the level we had hoped.

This time, we want to take on the world with no regrets.

With that determination, we began our activities early. But raising ¥5,000,000 for six high school students is no easy feat.

We are reaching out to corporate sponsors, but the reality is that we have not yet secured the    full amount we need. Without it, not only will our preparation fall short, but there is a real           possibility that our participation in the World Finals itself may be at risk.

That is why we need your support.

Your contribution is a powerful force behind the dreams and efforts of high school students        representing Japan on the world stage.

Through this challenge, we aim to share the spirit of Japanese craftsmanship and the potential of STEM education with the world.

Closing

No Japanese team has ever won the STEM Racing World Finals. Standing up against powerhouse nations, such as the UK, Australia, and Germany, and fighting our way to the top is no easy task.

But with your support behind us, we will have the resources to better prepare for the competition. We will face each challenge head-on, one step at a time, with our sights set on winning the STEM Racing World Finals, and we hope that our victory will inspire many more Japanese students to take part in STEM Racing in the years to come.
