The Vijayanagara kings, especially King Achyutaraya, played a significant role in the development of the temple complex.During the rule of the Vijayanagara Empire, the temple gained prominence and attracted a large number of devotees. It continued to flourish under the patronage of subsequent rulers, including the Nayakas and the Marathas.
