The temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and is considered one of the important pilgrimage sites in the region. The history of the Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple dates back several centuries. Over time, several kings and devotees contributed to the expansion and beautification of the temple. The Vijayanagara kings, especially King Achyutaraya, played a significant role in the development of the temple complex.During the rule of the Vijayanagara Empire, the temple gained prominence and attracted a large number of devotees. It continued to flourish under the patronage of subsequent rulers, including the Nayakas and the Marathas.
