英語×時代劇×リアルな殺陣、映画『The Samurai (剣に生き)』を国内海外に届けたい！

役者代表、クラウドファンディング担当の平原大地です。

僕たちは、時代劇を英語で作るという、全く新しい発想で海外にもヒットする作品を東京で作りました！ 
１人でも多くの海外の人に僕達の映画を知ってもらう為に、海外映画祭出展、宣伝、上映会開催の費用を集めたいです。 

国内外でのヒットを実現して、今後も良作を生み出していきたいです！製作者も演者も、大手資本を介さない、インディーズでの活動ですが、監督が自身の資金で撮影し、有志の役者達のチームで制作を進めました。

時代劇の中で侍たちが英語をしゃべる⁈

一風変わったコンセプトですが、「海外の優れた作品たちと同じ土俵に立ちたい！」という強いこだわりから始まりました。臨場感のある芝居をするために、海外在住経験のある者や、英語ネイティブの人達がいる中、皆で英語セリフを学び作成しました！

日本人だから作ることができるリアルな時代劇を、海外でも自然に楽しめるエンターテインメントに！！全く違ったものを掛け合わせ、自分たちしか作れない唯一無二の作品ができあがりました。

映画は既に完成して、アメリカとイギリスでアマゾンプライムビデオにて配信が開始しました。でもまだまだ発信力が無く、皆さんのお力をお借りして１人でも多くの人に僕達の映画を見てもらいたいと願ってます。

特にこだわっているのは殺陣での斬りあいや決闘シーン。
古来の武道を受け継いだ、リアルな戦いを表現するために、監督 安積俊治（あさか としはる）は、自ら新陰流、英信流、合気道などを学び、また指導する立場となって殺陣を研究してきました。

自分も安積監督の表現したい「リアルな殺陣」を完成させるために、彼と一対一の型稽古を大切にしています。伝統を受け継ぐように、一見地味だと思われる型稽古を繰り返しています。伝統的な武道から創り出す殺陣で、リアルな日本文化を表現したいです。

ローカル、インディーズからでも、世界にヒットする作品を発信する！

現在の日本映画は、大手プロダクションや大手事務所で活躍されるスタッフ、俳優たちでなければ、なかなかヒット作品を作ることができませんでした。実際に制作の資金面や、完成した作品の流通をはじめとして、大きなハンディキャップがあることは事実です。

しかし、ローカルで活動する製作者や演者たちの熱意、新しいものを作りたい、表現したい、という気持ちの熱量は絶対に負けないと信じています。沢山の人たちが芝居を学び、ローカルな作品で表現を続けている、殺陣や武道の習得のためにコツコツと地道な努力をしている、そのようなエネルギーが新たなルートで海外市場に進出していけると信じています。前作『熱き浪人』の海外高評価の追い風に、今作はさらに多くの視聴者に作品を届けます！

『The Samurai. (邦題：剣に生き）』ストーリー

江戸時代。藩に仕え、剣術を得意として生きる三田剣司はあるとき、山賊の襲撃で果敢に戦うも、仲間を必死に助けるなか左腕を負傷してまう。強さだけにアイデンティティーを求めていた剣司は、剣の道を諦めて自暴自棄な生活をおくる。その様な生きざまが引き寄せるように、かつての仲間とはケンカになり、上司や後輩からは蔑まれる。

追い打ちをかけるかのように、彼を剣術家へと育てた恩師、山本先生の死の知らせが届くも剣司の心は動かない。しかし彼以上に彼を信じていたのは、亡くなった山本先生だった。山本先生からの遺書を読んだとき、剣司はライバル晋太郎との試合に挑むことを決意する。彼は剣術、そして人生を取り戻すことができるのか。

これまでの活動

英語時代劇の第一弾『熱き浪人』（2022）は、お陰様で海外の映画祭中心に19の受賞を頂きました。
資金を介入した広告なしでもアマゾンの有料視聴を配信一年で約3000回を得ることができました。

資金の使い道

上映会の開催費用、作成スタッフ・演者への支払い、DVD作成費用、海外映画祭出展費用、宣伝費用、CAMPFIRE手数料。

主演俳優＆クラファン実施者、平原大地って誰？

俳優、クリエイター、自称14歳として生きる変人。

20代より、自身の可能性を求めてアメリカ・カリフォルニアに渡米。

ロサンゼルスで広告業を起業しながら、映画エキストラ、バンド活動、教会でのギター演奏、キックボクシング、柔道、総合格闘技試合出場、などジャンルを超えて活動。

破産や引きこもりを経験。瞑想やヨガやフィットネスを通じて復活。
キリスト教会、仏教、ヒンドゥー寺院、自己啓発ワークショップ、精神世界系書籍の読書などスピリチュアルな意識の探求にもハマる。日本帰国後、精神世界系出版社に就職するも、自由な精神を発揮しすぎて退社となり、アーティスト活動に集中。

俳優養成所に通ったのち、感情を露わにした侍役や、女たらしな青年役など、インディーズ映画での主演を務める。
全セリフ英語で挑戦した『熱き浪人』（2022）は海外映画祭で１９の賞を受賞。
「CompactClub」のギターコーラスとしても活動中。

Story of the movie, The Samurai

Edo Period.  Kenji Mita, who serves the clan and specializes in swordsmanship, once bravely fought against an attack by bandits, but injured his left arm while fighting desperately to help his comrades. Kenji, who sought his identity through strength, gave up his swordsmanship and led a desperate life.  Such a way of life attracts him to fights with his former companions and to be despised by his superiors and juniors.

As if to add to the blow, Kenji's heart remains unmoved when he receives the news of the death of his mentor, Yamamoto-sensei, who raised him to be a swordsman.  However, it was when he read the posthumous writings of Yamamoto-sensei that he believed in him even more than he did.  Will Kenji, who has decided to challenge his swordsmans rival Shintaro, regain his swordsmanship and his life?

This is Daichi Hirahara: main actor and crowdfunding producer.  

We want deliver "The Samurai", our film combined English, Japanese historical drama, and realistic sword fights domestically and internationally! Please, support us！

Both the producers and performers are independent activities that do not involve major capital, but the director shoots with his own funds and the team of volunteer actors is proceeding with the production.

We are particular about sword fights and duel scenes, and in order to express realistic battles with good old Japanese martial arts, director Toshi Asaka himself learned and taught Shinkage-ryu, Eishin-ryu, Aikido, etc. I have been studying sword fighting from a standpoint.  In order to complete the realistic sword fighting that Director Azumi wants to express, I cherish the repetition of Kata-geiko that seems plain at first glance, just like inheriting the tradition of repeating one-on-one with him.  I want to express the good old and realistic Japanese culture with sword fighting from traditional martial arts.

 We are also particular about acting in English.  Samurai speak English in period dramas.  It's an unusual concept, but of course it started with a strong commitment to wanting to compete in the same arena as outstanding works from overseas.  I learn and create English lines so that people like me who have lived overseas, who are completely Japanese, and native English speakers living in Japan can play with a sense of realism.  A realistic period drama that only Japanese people can create, entertainment that can be enjoyed naturally even overseas!  By combining completely different things, we create a one-of-a-kind work that only we can create.

We want to send hits to the world, even from local and indies!

 Today's Japanese movies cannot make hits unless they are actors who are active in major production companies and major offices.  Until now, it may have been unavoidable to think so.  It is a fact that there are big handicaps, such as the financial aspect of production and the distribution of the completed work.

However, I believe that the enthusiasm of the local producers and performers, their desire to create new things and their desire to express themselves, will never be outdone.  Many people have learned theater and continue to express themselves in local productions, and they are making steady efforts to learn sword fights and martial arts. I believe we can do it. 

Activities so far

Director Toshi Asaka's former English-language historical drama, The Ronin (2022), has been awarded 19 awards, mainly at film festivals overseas.  We were able to get about 3,000 paid viewings on Amazon in one year of distribution without advertising that involved funding.

Use of funds

 Location expenses necessary for the completion of the film, screening expenses, payments to production staff and performers, DVD production expenses, overseas film festival exhibition expenses, advertising expenses, CAMPFIRE fees.

 
About return 

Activity reports/thank you emails, listing your name in movie credits , autographed photos or DVDs of performers, invitations to screenings, presentation of merchandise, etc.

Implementation schedule 

It will be screened from summer to October of the same year in Tokyo or Yokohama.The work will be available for viewing on Amazon Prime within the same year.

More about Daichi Hirahara.

Actor, creator.  In his twenties, he moved to California, USA, in search of his own potential.  While starting an advertising business in Los Angeles, he is active beyond genres such as movie extras, band activities, guitar performances at churches, kickboxing, judo, and mixed martial arts competitions.  He experienced bankruptcy and withdrawal.  He revived through meditation, yoga and fitness. He also immerses himself in exploring spiritual consciousness through Christian churches, Buddhism, Hindu temples, self-development workshops, and reading spiritual books.  After returning to Japan, he got a job at a spiritual world publishing company, but he left the company because he showed too much of his free spirit and concentrated on his artist activities.  After he attended acting training school, he starred in indie films, including an emotional Ronin and a womanizing young man. “The Ronin” (2022), won 19 awards at overseas film festivals. He is also active as a guitar chorus of "CompactClub".
