かつてサムライが習得した居合。
今や残った流派のほとんどは小さなサークルで、高齢化が進み、自然消滅しそうです。
この居合を次代に残すために盛り上げなければいけません。

そこで、2025年7月12日(土) 東京墨田区ひがしんアリーナで行われる第9回全日本居合道選手権大会で一大ムーブメントを起こそうと思います。大会参加選手を増やすために、地方からの参加選手の遠征費を援助したい。

自己紹介

こんにちは。国際居合道連盟 鵬玉会（ほうぎょくかい）です。
私たちは、日本の伝統武道である居合道を継承し、普及活動を行っている団体です。

プロジェクト立ち上げの背景

武道というものは、まず「強さ」を追求する技術で認識されます。
ところが居合は「形」に傾倒するあまり、一般の方が見た場合、まったくおもしろくありません。そのため、各種大会には観客が入らず、次代への継承はあやぶまれています。

そこで、本来の武道としての側面である、「刀法の技術の強さ」を競う大会を行ってきました。

この「自由組太刀」がようやく認識され、「先に斬った方が勝ち」というわかやすいルールのためもあり、昨年度は５００人の席が満席になりました。
また、歓声がわき会場がどよめく、唯一の居合の大会となりました。

しかし、地方から東京に遠征するための旅費、交通費が負担となり、参加できない選手が多数います。

オープントーナメントなので、流派を問わず志を同じくする剣士たちを支援していただけませんか？

日本が誇るのは『サムライ』というキーワードです。
それを守る剣士たちが、さらに道に精進でき、これを見た人が胸躍り、自分もやってみよう、となることが居合を次代に残すことになるのだと思います。

今回、初めて大会に地方から遠征する選手へ皆様からの温かいご支援を賜りたく、クラウドファンディングに挑戦させていただきました。

このプロジェクトで実現したいこと

このプロジェクトを通じて遠征費の負担を軽減し、より多くの地方選手が夢を諦めることなく全国大会に挑戦できる環境を整えるために、是非ともご支援を宜しくお願いいたします。

東京での開催ということもあり、地方からの選手は宿泊費・交通費などの費用負担が大きいのが現状です。たとえば、地方からの選手が東京に来る場合の費用を見積もると…

⇒ 1人あたりで計50,000円以上の費用が必要になるケースも…

この費用が負担となり、参加を見送る方も多くいます。本プロジェクトを通してこの”遠征費”という大きな障壁を少しでも取り除き、より多くの選手が挑戦できる環境を作りたいです。

Protecting the Future of Iaido: Support Regional Samurai on Their Journey to the National Stage

Once practiced by the samurai, iaido is now at risk of disappearing.

Most remaining styles exist only in small local circles, with aging practitioners and few successors. To keep this tradition alive, we need to raise its profile and provide opportunities for the next generation.

To achieve this, we are launching a crowdfunding campaign to support regional competitors who wish to participate in the 9th All Japan Iaido Championship, to be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Higashin Arena, Sumida, Tokyo. Your support will help cover travel expenses and increase the number of participants.

About Us

We are the International Iaido Federation Hougyokukai. Our mission is to preserve and promote the traditional Japanese martial art of iaido.

Why This Project?

In many martial arts, “strength” is understood as physical power. However, iaido emphasizes "form," making it difficult for spectators to appreciate. As a result, tournaments often draw few audiences, threatening the future of the art.

To address this, we introduced a competitive format based on real swordsmanship—Jiyuu Kumitachi, where "the first to strike wins."

Thanks to this intuitive and engaging rule, last year’s event sold out all 500 seats and became the only iaido tournament to earn loud cheers and excitement from the audience.

However, many talented practitioners from regional areas are unable to participate due to high travel and accommodation costs.

As an open tournament, we welcome samurai from all styles and backgrounds. Would you consider supporting these dedicated swordsmen and women?

Japan’s cultural legacy of the samurai lives on through them. By helping them train and compete, you are ensuring that the tradition of iaido reaches the next generation. That’s why we’ve launched this crowdfunding campaign.

Our Goal

Through this project, we aim to reduce the financial burden of travel so that more regional competitors can pursue their dream of standing on the national stage.

With the tournament held in Tokyo, participants from far regions face major expenses. Here's an example of expected costs:

Travel (round-trip):

• From Kyushu/Hokkaido: 40,000–60,000 yen

• From Chubu/Kansai/Shikoku/Tohoku: 20,000–40,000 yen

Accommodation (1 night):

• Hotel in Tokyo: 10,000–15,000 yen

➡️ Many athletes require 50,000 yen or more just to attend the event.

This expense alone causes many to give up their dreams. We want to remove that barrier, even just a little, so they can rise to the challenge.
