2025年5月5日こどもの日、山口県山陽小野田市の田んぼのど真ん中で日本一長い100mのお好み焼き作りに挑戦！町おこしを目的に、泥んこ実行委員会が10年ほど前から開催してきたイベントが、コロナ禍を経てさらに進化。地域の皆と協力し、世界記録を目指す特別な日となる。

Summary

On May 5, 2025, Children’s Day – We’re Taking on the Challenge of Creating Japan’s Longest Okonomiyaki at 100 Meters Long, Right in the Middle of a Rice Field in Sanyo-Onoda City, Yamaguchi Prefecture! This community revitalization event, organized by the Doronko Executive Committee, has been held for over ten years. Now, having overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, the event is evolving further. With the help of the local community, we aim to create a special day that could set a new world record. 

自己紹介

我々、泥んこ実行委員会は山口県山陽小野田市内で活動している任意団体です。
始まりは、2012年に大人から子供まで一緒になって泥まみれになり遊ぶイベントである「泥んこバレー＆泥んこ遊び」でした。当初は、閉塞した現代において、大人が楽しいと思えること、心から笑顔になれることは何かということをテーマに我々大人が小さい時に泥んこになって無邪気に遊んでいたことをもう一度やってみればという発想で実施しました。大人が笑顔で楽しいことをしていれば、それを見た子供も楽しく、且つ自分たちも楽しく生きていこうと思えるのではないかと考えています。

About Us 

We, the Doronko Executive Committee, are a volunteer group based in Sanyo-Onoda City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Our journey began in 2012 with an event called “Doronko Volleyball & Mud Play”, where both children and adults played together, getting covered in mud. The idea was born from the question: What can truly make adults smile and have fun in today’s often stifling society?
We believed that reliving the pure joy of playing in the mud, as we did when we were kids, would bring out genuine laughter and happiness in adults. And if adults are having fun and smiling, children watching them will feel the joy too—and hopefully, be inspired to live life with the same positive spirit.

今回のイベントの経緯

あいさつでも述べたとおり、人との交流する楽しさや大人の心からの笑顔を子供たちに見せることで、子供たちも楽しく生きていける、明るい未来への道づくりを行っていきたいと思っています。

Background of This Event 

As mentioned in our greeting, we hope to show children the joy of human connection and the power of genuine adult smiles. By doing so, we want to pave the way to a brighter future where children feel free and happy. Here’s a look at the history of our events:

このプロジェクトで実現したいこと

現在、ものが溢れ、全てが豊かになり、余暇も一人で楽しむことができるようになって、人との交流が少なくっています。地方ならではの、人と交流することの楽しさを大人から子供まで実感してもらいたいというのが我々泥んこ実行委員会の思いです。

　2014年から「日本一長いお好み焼きに挑戦」を実施してきました。これも多くの方と一緒に長～いお好み焼きを協同で作り、ともに食べ、会話し、人との交流の楽しさを味わってほしいとの思いから始まりました。

　今回は、世界記録を目指して、より多くの人と気持ちを一つにし、世界一を目指したいと思っております。

　地方から世界への挑戦を、ぜひとも応援よろしくお願いします！

Our Goal with This Project 

Today’s world is full of material wealth, and people can enjoy their leisure time alone. But as a result, we’re losing the joy of real human connection. Through this project, we want people—from children to adults—to rediscover the joy of interacting with others, something that’s especially precious in local communities.
　Since 2014, we’ve been hosting the “Japan’s Longest Okonomiyaki Challenge.” This began with the hope that many people would come together, collaborate to make an extra-long okonomiyaki, eat together, and enjoy conversation and laughter.
　This year, we aim even higher. By taking on the challenge of a world record, we hope to unite even more hearts and minds under one goal—to become the best in the world.
　We kindly ask for your support as we take on this challenge from our small town to the world!

会長　井上洋希今回の１００ｍのお好み焼き挑戦は、見ず知らずの人たちが集まり、一緒に長―いお好み焼きを作り、成功させ、一緒に笑顔で食べることを目的としています。いろんな人たちと交流する楽しさやみんなで一つのことに挑戦し、達成する感動を味わってほしいと思っています。“感じたらまず動く”これこそが今の若者や我々大人に必要なことではないかと思います。これを体感し、また目にすることで感動が生まれてくると信じています。今回のイベントは、山陽小野田市という全国的には、無名の地ですが、この町から日本または世界へ光とお好み焼きの香りを放ちたいと思っております。

This 100-meter okonomiyaki challenge is about strangers coming together, creating a long okonomiyaki side by side, succeeding, and then enjoying it together with smiles.
We hope people will experience the joy of connecting with others, and the excitement of achieving something together.
“Feel it, then act”—this is what we believe is needed most by both today’s youth and adults.
We trust that by experiencing and witnessing this, people will be moved and inspired.
Though Sanyo-Onoda City is not widely known nationwide, we want to spread the light—and the delicious scent of okonomiyaki—from this town to all of Japan and even the world.

山陽小野田市在住のGenkiゆうきです。今回『老若男女が参加できる企画』ですが、企画する人と、参加する人だけでは足りません。そこで必要なのが第３の力。『応援の力です』クラファンを通じて、15cm幅で100ｍのお好み焼きを作りあげる『未知なる達成感』を一緒に共有させていただけると幸いです。

Genki Yuuki 

I’m Genki Yuuki from Sanyo-Onoda City.
This is a project where people of all ages can participate, but it’s not enough to only have organizers and participants.
What we need is a third kind of support—the power of encouragement.
Through crowdfunding, we hope to share the sense of accomplishment that comes from creating a 100-meter-long, 15 cm wide okonomiyaki—something truly unprecedented.

私たちは、Student Chapterという組織に所属している山口東京理科大学の学生です。この度、学生スタッフとして本イベントに参加させていただきます。私たちは山陽小野田市の出身ではありませんが、学生生活を過ごす中で地域の温かさに触れました。このクラウドファンディングをきっかけにぜひ多くの方々にも山口県山陽小野田市の魅力を知っていただきたいです。

We are students from an organization called the Student Chapter, from Sanyo-Onoda City University. We are honored to participate in this event as student staff. Although we are not originally from Sanyo-Onoda City, we have experienced the warmth of the local community through our student life here. We hope this crowdfunding campaign will be an opportunity for many people to discover the charm of Sanyo-Onoda City in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
