“Bringing the Wisdom of Japanese Culture to the World: A ‘WA’-Inspired Book Linking Influential Figures for the Future (Bilingual Publication Project)”

As we studied at “Anata to Kenkōsha,” led by Yuriko Tojo, who is well known as a leading figure in natural therapy, we came to appreciate the beauty of Japan’s traditional culture. Japanese culture holds wisdom that is gentle to ourselves, to society, and to the Earth. It preserves the natural state of all living beings and offers guidance on how they can coexist in harmony. We are creating this book to pass on this wisdom to the next generation.

自己紹介　Introduction

初めまして、株式会社千鳥舎です。私たちは子育て中のお母さん2人で運営している、設立したばかりの小さな会社です。6年間、全国各地へ1万部「ナチュラルライフをご提案するフリーペーパーおむすび」を発行してきました。

その中で、もっと私たちに出来ることがある、それを2人だけでなく、たくさんの皆さんと共有し、繋がり、より豊かな未来へ繋いでいきたいという想いから「多角的に日本の伝統文化を伝えられる本を出版したい！」と株式会社を立ち上げました。

私たち千鳥舎は、はるか昔から長く繋がれて来た叡智と自然の摂理からの学びを通して、人と人とを繋いでいくことを目的に活動しています。
1人でも多くの方が、心身共に健康で心豊かに暮らしていくために大切なことを、様々な媒体を通してともに考え、社会に貢献することを目指しています。

Let us introduce ourseves! We are Chidorisha Co., Ltd. We are a newly established small company run by two mothers raising children. For the past six years, we have published 10,000 copies of a free paper titled “Omusubi: Proposing a Natural Lifestyle.” throughout Japan.

Through this experience, we realized that there is more we can do. We wanted not only the two of us, but many people to share this vision, connect with one another, and build a richer future together. With this in mind, we founded our company with the goal: “We want to publish books that convey Japanese traditional culture from multiple perspectives!”

At Chidorisha, our purpose is to connect people through the wisdom passed down over generations and the lessons learned from the natural order. We aim to contribute to society by exploring, together with many people, what is truly important for living a healthy and fulfilling life—both physically and mentally—through various forms of media.

私たち株式会社千鳥舎の事業の根底には

「文化・哲学の継承と普及コミュニケーション」があります。

クラウドファンディングを通して出版することにより、共感してくださる方と「想い」で繋がり、「支援」という形で共に行動をしていくことで、失われつつある未来への希望の一歩を、1人でも多くの方と歩き出したい、そんなたくさんの想いが「豊かな未来」に繋がると信じています。

そして「翻訳付きの一冊」として出版することで、世界中の方がいつどこで手にとっても「日本の文化の素晴らしさ」をお楽しみいただける一冊になると確信しています。

違いを尊重し、敬意と共に想いを共有していくこと。

それがこれからの未来に必要だと感じています。

今「権利」や「自由」が叫ばれています。

そんな素晴らしい言葉も「主観」によって「正しさ」や「概念」が変わり、未来への不安を感じる方が増えていると感じます。

これからの時代に必要なのは「正義」ではなく古くから伝わる「哲学」です。そうした哲学を共有し知恵としていくためには「身体的知識」＝「体験」が必要です。

AIが普及していく現在、そして未来においてもこれはとても重要なテーマと私たちは考え、リターンには「身体的知識」を体得していく内容として「農業体験」「イベント（お祭り）」も盛り込んでいます。

また「日本の手仕事パートナーシップ」という形で、職人さんたちの手による「ひと手間」を大切にしたリターンも多く取り揃えています。

At the heart of our work at Chidori-sha lies a commitment to “the preservation, sharing, and communication of culture and philosophy”.

What we need moving forward is not “justice” alone, but the enduring “philosophies” that have been passed down through generations. To truly understand and share such wisdom, we need more than knowledge—we need embodied experience.

Even in an age where AI continues to evolve, we believe this remains an essential theme.

改めてクラウドファンディングを立ち上げたきっかけ　Why We Decided to Launch a Crowdfunding Campaign Again

今年に入ってから、私たちのホームページやSNS、フリーペーパーを通して皆様からのご支援を募ってまいりました。専用サイトを利用しなかった理由は「自分たちの手で出来ることはやろう！」という理由からでした。

しかし、認知度が低いこと、リターン品が分かりにくいこと、寄付までのアクションに手間がかかること、私たちの想いが上手く伝えれられていないことなど、至らない点がたくさんあり、その結果温かい寄付は頂けたものの、出版出来るまでの費用が集められませんでした。実現するにはどうしたらよいかと模索する中で、専用サイトからの無料相談を利用してみたところ、驚くほど伝わりやすく、見やすく、そして力強いサポートがあり、自分たちに足りない部分を補っていただけるものと感じ、「力を借りたい！」と思いました。

Since the beginning of this year, we have been seeking support from everyone through our website, social media, and free paper publications. The reason we did not use a dedicated crowdfunding platform at first was because we wanted to take on what we could by ourselves—“Let’s do what we can with our own hands!”

However, we faced several challenges: our lack of visibility, difficulty in clearly communicating the rewards, the complicated steps required to make a donation, and our inability to effectively convey our message. As a result, although we did receive warm and generous contributions, we were unable to raise enough funds to publish our work. While exploring ways to make this project a reality, we decided to try a free consultation offered by a crowdfunding platform. We found it surprisingly clear, easy to understand, and strongly supportive. It felt like it could compensate for what we were lacking, and that’s when we thought, “We want to ask for their help.”

プロジェクトを立ち上げたきっかけと内容　The Inspiration and Purpose of This Project

「未来に残していきたい想い」

それは決して私たちのオリジナルな理論ではなく　人間が作ったメソッドでもなく、遠い昔から繋がれた自然の摂理の中で生まれた「叡智」ではないでしょうか。

「道理に触れ、体験し、学び続けること」

それが「本当の意味での豊かさ」を私たちにもたらすのだと、「想いを繋いでいく」とはそういうことなのだと、東城百合子主幹「あなたと健康社」で学びました。

そして「その想いを繋いでいくという責任を、しっかりと肩に乗せなさい」と、この本を制作する勇気を与えてくださった東城百合子先生とその後継者の皆様へ、心から感謝いたします。

私たちは今この瞬間瞬間も、目には見えない恩恵を受けながら過ごしています。 この小さな島国「日本」は、戦前と戦後で大きく変わりました。一体何が変わったのでしょうか。

These are not our own ideas or man-made methods. Rather, they are forms of “wisdom” born from the natural order that has been passed down since ancient times.

“To connect with life’s truths, experience them, and keep learning.”

We learned through our studies at “Anata to Kenkōsha”, led by Yuriko Tojo, that this is what brings true richness into our lives. To “pass on these thoughts” means exactly that.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Yuriko Tojo and her successors, who gave us the courage to create this book and entrusted us with the responsibility of carrying these values forward.

Even in this very moment, we live while receiving countless invisible blessings. This small island nation, Japan, has changed dramatically before and after the war. What exactly has changed?

Japan’s rich culture includes:

Kamishibai (paper theater), a storytelling medium many of us grew up with

Within these traditions lies wisdom that is kind to ourselves, society, and the Earth—wisdom that allows all living things to coexist while maintaining their natural balance. Even as lifestyles have drastically changed, these traditions continue to support our health like small yet strong and warm “flame.”

We believe it is our responsibility as adults to pass on this “flame” to the next generation. This belief is what inspired us to launch this project.

クラウドファンディング中も制作を進めています。

これまで私たちは、様々な形で文化発信に携わってきました。しかし、本格的な出版物の制作には、私たちの自己資金だけでは限界があります。

ご協力者様への取材費用、印刷費、デザイン費、取材費、そして何より、英語へと翻訳するにあたり、日本語の繊細なニュアンスを取りこぼすことなくお伝えするための費用が予想以上に必要となり、今回の設定金額となりました。

すでに協力者の皆さんから原稿をいただいており、校正段階に入っております。応援動画やメッセージもいただいており、動画作成チームも稼働しています。これを皆さんがお読みになる頃には素晴らしい応援動画をご覧になっていることと思います。また、翻訳家の方々との打ち合わせも始まっております。

プロジェクト成立後、約3ヶ月をかけて丁寧に制作を進める予定です。希望額以上達成出来た際には、来年春頃にご協力者さまをお

We are continuing production even as our crowdfunding campaign is underway.

Up to this point, we have been involved in sharing culture in various forms. However, producing a full-scale publication has proven to be beyond what we can achieve through our own funds alone.

Costs have exceeded our initial expectations—including interview expenses for our contributors, printing, design, and most importantly, the careful translation into English. We are committed to conveying the delicate nuances of the Japanese language without losing their depth or meaning, and this requires significant resources. This is why we have set our funding goal at its current level.

We have already received manuscripts from our contributors and have now entered the editing and proofreading stage. We’ve also been honored with messages and support videos, and our video production team is actively at work. By the time you are reading this, we hope you will have already seen these wonderful expressions of support. In addition, we have begun discussions with our translators.

After the project is successfully funded, we plan to spend approximately three months carefully completing the production process. If we are fortunate enough to exceed our funding goal, we also hope to host a publication launch event next spring, inviting our contributors to join us.

To experience music through the body is to engage all five senses. Sharing this kind of experience requires substantial initial investment, and we deeply appreciate your understanding and support.

突然ですが、皆さんは「お祭り」と聞いて何をイメージしますか？

日本文化について、特段意識していない人であっても、「お祭り」という言葉を聞いて、なんだかワクワクする気持ちが湧いてこない人は少ないのではないでしょうか？

どんなものかイメージが湧かなくても、老若男女問わず、なんだかそこに行ってみたくなる、日本人にとってお祭りはそんな存在だと思います。出版記念イベントを出来るなら、そんな「お祭り」を作っていきたいと思っています！

皆さんと音楽を楽しみながら、日本の文化を楽しく学べる時間を共有することで、「本を読む」だけでは終わらない「体験」を通して「想いで繋がる関係性を作り続ける」ことが最終目標です。こちらのリターンには「イベントチケット」をリターンとして考えています。

ネクストゴールを達成出来なかった場合にもイベント開催は目指しますが、「出版記念」というタイミングではなく、本の販売などにより資金が集まり次第というところになっていく予定です。

Suddenly, but—when you hear the word “festival,” what comes to mind?

Even for those who don’t usually think much about Japanese culture, isn’t it true that just hearing the word “festival” brings a sense of excitement?

Even if you can’t quite picture what it’s like, festivals have a special pull that makes people of all ages want to go and experience them. For many Japanese people, festivals are exactly that kind of presence.

If we are able to hold a publication celebration event, we would love to create something just like that—a festival that draws people in and sparks that same feeling of excitement!

By sharing a space where we can enjoy music together and explore Japanese culture in an engaging way, our ultimate goal is to go beyond simply “reading a book.” Through shared experiences, we hope to cultivate lasting connections—relationships rooted in shared feelings and memories. For this next goal, we are planning to offer event tickets as rewards.

Even if we are unable to reach this goal, we still hope to hold the event. However, it may not take place as a “publication launch,” but rather at a later time, once sufficient funds are gathered through book sales and other means.

このプロジェクトでは、テーマ曲の制作もし、昨年YouTubeにて無料公開をスタートしています。
メナム川抑留所の歌

戦時中タイに抑留されていた、この曲の歌い手である千紗登の祖父と日本兵の皆さんが「大切な家族に会いたい」「日本に戻りたい」と毎日空を見上げては、願う日々の中で生まれた歌が「メナム川抑留所の歌」です。

「戦争は誰も幸せにならない」 ーーーー祖父はそれを怒りではなく笑顔と温かい声で残してくれました。
いつの時代もどこかで戦いが生まれて、尊い命が失われていく。

共感してくださった、音楽を奏でるたくさんの皆さま、ぜひ歌い繋いでください。たくさんの方と一緒に歌い繋いでいくことで「NO WAR」この想いを世界中に届けたい。「音楽」という平和のバトンをあなたに繋ぎます。

This song was born during wartime, in Thailand, where Chisato’s grandfather—the singer of this piece—was interned along with other Japanese soldiers.

Day after day, they looked up at the sky, longing to see their families again, longing to return home. From those days of quiet hope, this song was born.

“War never brings happiness to anyone.”

—These words were not left in anger, but with a gentle smile and a warm voice. Even today, conflicts continue somewhere in the world, and precious lives are lost.

To all musicians and those who resonate with this message—we invite you to keep this song alive. By sharing and singing it together, we hope to carry the message of “NO WAR” across the world. Through music, we pass this baton of peace on to you.
