Create a place for the visually impaired to interact

Nice to meet you. I'm KazuoYoshimori, the representative of the NPO voluntary organization Universal Light. This project is an initiative to expand the place for people with some kind of visual disability, trouble, or problem to meet and interact beyond the difference in disability. Also, if you have some kind of visual impairment, nationality and race are not required.
We are committed to the realization of a society where we understand each other and coexist beyond the differences in visual impairment, and aim for international exchange that transcends nationality and race. I myself am a mid-blind person who lost his sight in his left eye due to the worsening of glaucoma. We will carry out this project to contribute to society by relying on the eyesight of the lucky remaining right eye.
The current situation of the blind community

It is common for people with some visual problems to form communities with people with the same disabilities. It is true that the sense of solidarity between people with the same problems is very encouraging, strong, and comfortable. However, on the other hand, there are more than a few parts that feel resistant to accepting things that are different from us, and do not show understanding or interest.
Even if it is a visual impairment, some people are totally blind and some are weak. Without the help of the administration, some people can't live their daily lives, and some people are almost the same as healthy people. Even if there is a difference in the degree of disability or the way of seeing, there is no big difference in having some kind of problem with vision. By walking a little by others, we may surely see a world that we have not seen before. We will create opportunities for interaction for many people to experience the new world by acting with a little courage, and we will help them with that courage.
Why is this project necessary?
As mentioned above, in the previous [vertical division] community formation, only people in similar environments tend to gather. It is inevitable because of the social structure that draws a line from an early age by "healthy person" or "not", is clearly divided in school education, and is divided into a more distant environment as an adult. As a result, it is difficult to interact with people in different environments, and the horizons are narrowed. Of course, there are certain advantages to that.
However, there are certainly disadvantages. We provide a place to spend a more fulfilling daily life through new discoveries and learning by sharing the same time with people from different communities, even if it is temporary from the current community, and different visually impaired people We will realize a new symbiotic society by scholars. In addition, I strongly hope that those with clear eyes will also join this circle and support us.
The future I want to realize

Beyond the differences in disabilities, we would like to provide many opportunities to approach each other and share our troubles and sufferings. By removing the barrier between the visually impaired, we will also remove the barrier between the healthy and the disabled, and realize a true symbiotic society. In Japan, the number of foreign nationals will increase in the future, but it will actively interact with foreign people with visual impairments, and it will be a reliable reception for all kinds of visually impaired people in a diversified Japanese society.

It is an organization to provide a place for people who have some concerns or problems with their vision to communicate. If you have any concerns or problems with your vision, it doesn't matter how much, and anyone can participate. Not only mild people, but also severe people are welcome to participate. In addition, if there is any visual disability, trouble, or problem, nationality or race does not matter. Let's share our daily worries. Since I myself am a half-blind person who lost his left eye vision due to the worsening of glaucoma, I will stand around in detail as a bridge between people from various backgrounds, so please take care of it.
The pillars of this project's activities
We hold an exchange meeting called "EYE Love Salon" 5 to 6 times a year. For the time being, it will be held mainly in the Kanto region, but we will gradually expand the holding area. In addition, we are advocating "international exchange", so we hope to hold it overseas someday. We hope to hold it in Vietnam and the Philippines, where many Vietnamese and Filipinos are currently active in Japan. Therefore, I would like to work with support organizations that support those countries.

Our organization is a non-profit NPO voluntary organization, so you cannot use the donation deduction. As our basic attitude, rather than receiving a large amount of support from some people at once, we would like to spend a long time and receive small amounts of support from as many people as possible.

The venue will also be held in community centers with low usage fees as much as possible.
The activity funds will be used for the venue fee, transportation expenses, and printing flyers for the above-mentioned exchange meeting. Although the activities of acquiring regular members, which can be said to be the lifeline of group management, are simple, we will gradually acquire members after many participants participate in each exchange meeting and understand the purpose of the organization. In addition, we will regularly upload videos to SNS such as Tiktok and YouTube to expand the base of support, so please subscribe to those channels.

And since this organization is a support group for the visually impaired, we will call for cooperation from local social welfare councils and civic groups that can share the philosophy, so we will effectively use the support money received this time as an expense for that.
If we have remaining funds, we will consider holding events in regions other than those listed above. As for the locations, we would also like to take into account the opinions of members of the fan club, so please let us know your preferences.
Finaly in the last.
This time, we utilized crowdfunding to secure the initial startup costs for the project. Moving forward, however, we will work to increase our membership through the “Eye Ai Salon”—a cornerstone of our organization’s activities—and strive to stabilize our funding so that we can cover our operating costs through annual membership fees.
As mentioned earlier, I myself have experienced sudden vision loss in my left eye and find myself in a state that cannot be categorized as either “able-bodied” or “disabled.” I intend to leverage this unique perspective to effectively serve as a bridge between “able-bodied individuals” and “people with disabilities.”
I believe that the social participation of people with visual impairments and the enrichment of their lives lie in meeting and interacting with as many people as possible. I hope that your support for this project will serve as a catalyst for the creation of a new community that transcends differences in disability. Would you join me in bringing this vision to life? We look forward to your support.
