ごあいさつ 〜A Message from Maxime〜
はじめまして。フランス出身のジャズピアニスト、Maxime Combarieu（マキシム・コンバリウ）と申します。
フランスは、私の故郷であり、音楽の原点です。そして日本は、日々を暮らし、家庭を築いている大切な場所になりました。板橋区で暮らし、日本各地で演奏する中で、音楽を通じて多くの方々と出会ってきました。大好きな日本の皆さんに、故郷フランスの素晴らしい音楽を届けたい。その思いが、今回の挑戦につながっています。
Nice to meet you. My name is Maxime Combarieu, a jazz pianist from France. I have been living in Itabashi, Tokyo, since 2021, and have been performing at live music venues and hotels throughout Japan.
I began studying classical piano at the age of six and discovered my passion for jazz when I was thirteen. After graduating from the Conservatoire de Rouen in France, I continued my jazz studies in Paris. In 2020, I released *Influences*, an album featuring mainly my original compositions. Since moving to Japan, I have expanded my performances beyond the piano to include the Hammond organ, and I have had the opportunity to perform not only in Tokyo but also at jazz festivals in various regions across Japan.
このプロジェクトを始めた理由 〜Why I Started This Project〜
日本で演奏活動を続ける中で、「素晴らしい海外のジャズミュージシャンを日本の皆さんに紹介したい」という思いが強くなりました。特に私が生まれ育ったフランスには、世界トップレベルのアーティストが数多くいますが、彼らが日本で演奏する機会は決して多くありません。
今回、私の友人でもあるフランスの一流ジャズギタリスト、Romain Pilon（ロマン・ピロン）が率いるトリオの来日ツアーを実現することになりました。ロマンは昨年も日本ツアーを行い、多くの方々に感動を届けました。今年も11月17日から24日にかけて、東京をはじめ全国7箇所で8回の公演を予定しています。

As I have continued performing in Japan, I have developed an increasingly strong desire to introduce outstanding international jazz musicians to audiences here. France, where I was born and raised, is home to many world-class artists, yet opportunities for them to perform in Japan are still relatively limited.
This time, I am working to bring a trio led by my friend and one of France’s leading jazz guitarists, Romain Pilon, to Japan for a tour. Romain also toured Japan last year, giving memorable performances to many audiences. This year, the trio is scheduled to perform eight shows in seven locations across Japan, including Tokyo, from November 17 to 24.
ロマン・ピロンについて 〜About Romain Pilon〜
ロマンは、パリを拠点に世界各地で活動するジャズギタリスト・作曲家です。奨学金を得てアメリカのバークリー音楽大学で学び、在学中にはギター部門の代表として、パット・メセニーの公演のオープニングを務めました。その後、ニューヨークで経験を重ね、パリを拠点に演奏や作品づくりを続けています。
今回のツアーにも参加するベーシスト、ジェフ・デンソンとは、ドラマーのブライアン・ブレイドを迎えた作品を録音し、アメリカ各地で公演を行ってきました。さまざまな音楽家との共演を通じて磨かれた演奏は、フランスだけでなく、海外でも高く評価されています。
私がロマンの音楽に惹かれるのは、確かな技術に加えて、その美しい音色と豊かなメロディー、そして仲間の音に耳を傾ける姿勢です。ギター、ベース、ドラムが、まるで会話をするように音楽をつくっていく。そのやり取りを、生の演奏で楽しんでいただきたいと思っています。ジャズの知識がなくても、心に響く音や、思わず体が動くリズムを見つけてもらえたらうれしいです。
また、ロマンは世界各地でマスタークラスや個人レッスンを行い、音楽を学ぶ人たちとも向き合ってきました。今回の来日でも、公演だけでなく、彼から直接学び、交流できる機会を予定しています。
初めてロマンを知った方にも、以前から彼の音楽を聴いている方にも、このツアーで、その魅力をより身近に感じていただけたらと思います。
Romain is a jazz guitarist and composer based in Paris who performs around the world. He received a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music in the United States, where he was selected to represent the guitar department in an opening performance for Pat Metheny. After gaining further experience in New York, he made Paris his base and has continued to perform and create music.
Together with bassist Jeff Denson, who is also joining this tour, he has recorded albums featuring drummer Brian Blade and performed across the United States. His playing, shaped by collaborations with a wide range of musicians, has earned recognition both in France and internationally.
What draws me to Romain’s music is not only his skill, but also his beautiful tone, rich melodies, and the way he listens to the musicians around him. The guitar, bass, and drums create music together as if they were having a conversation. I would love for you to experience that interplay live. You don’t need any knowledge of jazz—I simply hope you will discover sounds that move you and rhythms that make you want to move.
Romain also teaches through masterclasses and private lessons around the world, working closely with people who are learning music. During this visit to Japan, alongside the concerts, we are planning opportunities to learn directly from him and connect with him personally.

実現したいこと 〜What We Hope to Achieve〜
このプロジェクトを通じて、ロマンの来日ツアーを成功させることはもちろん、今後も継続的に海外の素晴らしいアーティストを日本に招き、日本とフランス、そして世界の音楽文化をつなぐ架け橋になりたいと考えています。
しかしながら、海外アーティストの招聘には、航空券、国内移動、宿泊費、会場費など多くの費用がかかります。私がプロデューサーとして継続的にこうした活動を行うには資金面での課題がありますが、このプロジェクトを通して、世界レベルの音楽を日本に届け続けるための基盤を作りたいのです。
Through this project, my goal is not only to make Romain’s Japan tour a success, but also to continue bringing outstanding international artists to Japan in the future. I hope to build a bridge connecting the musical cultures of Japan, France, and the wider world.
However, inviting artists from overseas involves significant costs, including international airfare, domestic transportation, accommodation, venue expenses, and other production-related costs. As a producer, one of the biggest challenges in continuing this kind of work is securing sufficient funding. Through this project, I hope to build a sustainable foundation that will allow me to keep bringing world-class music to audiences in Japan for years to come.
私がこの挑戦をする意味 〜Why This Challenge Matters to Me〜
私自身、フランスから日本に来て、この国の音楽業界や文化の素晴らしさと更なる可能性を感じています。日本の皆さんは音楽に対して非常に真摯で、アーティストへのリスペクトも深い。だからこそ、世界で活躍するミュージシャンたちにも日本で演奏して欲しいと心から思うのです。
私には日本語でコミュニケーションを取る力があり、日本での演奏活動の経験もあります。フランスと日本、両方の文化を理解している私だからこそ、この架け橋の役割を果たせると信じています。
Having come to Japan from France myself, I have experienced firsthand how rich and inspiring Japan’s music industry and culture can be, as well as the great potential they still hold. Japanese audiences have a deep appreciation for music and a strong respect for the artists who create it. That is exactly why I sincerely want more internationally active musicians to have the opportunity to perform in Japan.
I am able to communicate in Japanese, and I also have years of experience performing here. Because I understand both French and Japanese culture, I believe I am in a unique position to serve as a bridge between the two countries and help connect artists and audiences across cultures.

ロマンからのメッセージ 〜Romain's Message〜
2025年6月、私は初めて日本で自分の音楽を演奏する機会に恵まれました。日本にも私の音楽を聴いてくださる方がいることは知っていましたし、日本で演奏することは、ずっと夢でした。東京に到着したその日から、この場所には何か特別なものがあると感じました。公演を重ねるごとに、日本のお客さんのことをより深く知り、音楽と演奏者を心から尊重してくださる、情熱あふれる素晴らしい音楽ファンの皆さんと出会うことができました。
このツアーは、これまで演奏活動を続けてきた中でも、とりわけ忘れがたく、大きな喜びを感じた経験の一つになりました。帰国したとき、私の気持ちは一つでした。「必ずまた日本に行こう！」。そして今回は、親しい友人であり、音楽を共にしてきた大切な仲間でもある、ベースのジェフ・デンソンとドラムのフレッド・パスカを連れていきたいと思いました。
このトリオは、私にとって本当に特別な存在です。長年にわたり、私たちは音楽を通じて深い絆を育んできました。一緒に演奏していると、音楽はいつ、どんな方向へも自由に広がっていきます。それこそが、このトリオで演奏する醍醐味です！
再び日本の皆さんにこの音楽をお届けし、前回出会った方々と再会し、さらに新しい出会いが生まれることを、心から楽しみにしています。皆さんのご支援が、このツアーの実現を支える力になります。この冒険を共にしてくださるすべての方に、心から感謝しています。
ロマン・ピロン
In June 2025, I had the opportunity to perform my music in Japan for the very first time. I knew my music had found an audience there, and playing in Japan had always been a dream of mine. From my very first day in Tokyo, I felt there was something special about this place. Concert after concert, I got to know the Japanese audience better and met so many wonderful people — incredibly respectful, passionate music lovers.
It turned out to be one of the most memorable and rewarding experiences I've had as a touring musician. When I returned home, I knew one thing for sure: I had to go back! And this time, I wanted to bring two of my closest friends and musical collaborators with me: Jeff Denson on bass and Fred Pasqua on drums.
This trio holds a very special place in my heart. We've developed a deep musical connection over the years, and when we play together, the music can go anywhere at any moment. That's what makes it so exciting!
I'm really looking forward to sharing this music with Japanese audiences again, reconnecting with old friends, and hopefully making some new ones along the way. Your support will help make this tour possible, and I'm truly grateful to everyone who wants to be part of this adventure!
現在の準備状況 〜Current Progress〜
ロマンのトリオとは綿密に打ち合わせを重ねており、11月の来日ツアーは確定しています。会場の手配、スケジュール調整、リハーサルの計画もすでに進行中です。あとは日本側でのプロデュース資金を確保できれば、万全の体制でツアーを迎えることができます。
I have been working closely with Romain and the members of his trio, and the Japan tour this November is already confirmed. Venue arrangements, scheduling, and rehearsal planning are all currently underway. The remaining step is to secure the production funding needed on the Japan side.
With that support in place, we will be able to welcome the trio to Japan fully prepared and ensure that the tour can be carried out under the best possible conditions.
