 保護活動をして、目の当たりにした現実...

「保護犬って、こんなにストレスを抱えているんだ...」

譲渡会を催したり、シェルターでお世話をしたりする中で初めて気づく、恐ろしい現実があります。

人間が怖くて，体を震わせている子。
お漏らしをしてしまう子や、嘔吐が止まらない子。
自分の手足をなめ壊したり、しっぽをかじっている子。

私はそれまで、恥ずかしながら全く知りませんでした。
普段私たちを癒やしてくれるペットが、こんなにも繊細で傷つきやすいことを。
そして、こんなにも、ストレスで「生きづらい」と感じていることを。

あなたは、分離不安症について知っていますか？

想像してみてください。

愛するペットが、飼い主のあなたと会えなくて、寂しくて、悩み悶え、毎晩泣きわめき、奇声を発し、自傷行為を繰り返し、苦しんで死んでいく様子を。

これはフィクションではありません。世界中でいま現実に起こっていることです。

日本でも、分離不安症に苦しむペットが急増しています。
一体、なぜでしょうか？

私たちにできること

そんな現状を目の当たりにした私たちが目指すのは、犬がストレスを抱えることなく生活できる世界。
ペットフードや獣医師になるといった直接的な介入は、資格が必要になってしまう…
資格も何もないわたしたちにできることはなんだろう…
懸命に考えて出した答えは，

「音楽を作る」

ということです。

音楽の知識がある私たちなら，本物のヒーリングミュージックを作れるのではないか。
そう思い立ってから、大学生活の大部分を捧げて、動物をリラックスさせることに特化した音楽を開発してきました。

世の中に溢れる怪しげなヒーリングミュージック...

ヒーリングミュージックであれば、youtube等で簡単に聞けるではないか，と思われるかもしれません。

しかし，それは本当に科学的根拠に基づいたものでしょうか？

実は，世の中に溢れるヒーリングミュージックの中で，本当に科学的根拠があるものはほとんどありません。
過度にストレスを抱えている犬にとって，それでは充分でないのです。

私たちの音楽は，麻布大学獣医学部の植竹教授という最高の専門家監修のもと、科学的に実証された音楽です。

動物たちの分離不安症をなんとかしたい！
と思った私は、たくさんの課題にぶつかり、そのたびに乗り越えてきました。

そもそも、動物に効果のある音楽ってなんなんだろう。
これまでの研究では、人間に効果のある音楽の要素を見つける研究はありますが、ペットを対象にしたものはほとんどありませんでした。まして、動物に効果のある音楽を開発するのは前例のない試みです。
仮説を立てて、実験して立証するしかありません。

チームメンバーも、様々な出会いがあってやっと集まりました。
音楽を作曲する、プロの作曲家。
研究を手伝ってくれる先生。

麻布大学の実験施設前にて

狭き門をくぐり抜けて早稲田大学の研究費を獲得し、いよいよ実験が始まりました。

実験は試行錯誤のくりかえし

植竹教授のアドバイスのもと最初のサンプル音楽を開発した私たちは、

実際に動物たちに集まってもらって、実験を始めました。

ストレスホルモンの増減に関係のありそうな様々な音の要素をリストアップし、
1つずつ音楽を作曲していきます。

1回新しい音の要素を試すのにかかるのが2〜3ヶ月。
実験だけで全部で2年間かかりました。
その結果、効果のありそうな音の要素がわかりました。

さらに、人間にとっても聴きやすい音楽にするのにも徹底的にこだわりました。

音楽を聴く前と後とでペットたちの唾液を採取し、ストレスの強さを示すホルモンの値を解析しました。

ついに、音楽ができました。 

One by One Musicの音楽には、実験によって効果が確認された特殊音をたっぷり取り入れています。

私たち人間が音楽を聴いて心の疲れをケアするのと同じように、
大切な動物たちも音楽を通して、健やかに生きることが期待できます。

One by One に込めた思い...

We are challenging the crowdfunding of 1,000,000 yen for pets suffering from separation anxiety all over the world!

While we were volunteering at an animal shelter, taking care of dogs, and having pet adoption events for them, I witnessed a terrible reality: shelter dogs are under so much stress.

Some dogs are shaking because of fear of humans.

Some of them urinate on themselves, or can't stop vomiting.

Some lick and break their limbs or chew on their tails.

I am ashamed to admit that I had no idea that the pets that usually heal us were so sensitive and vulnerable until then. 

And that they were under so much stress that they were having a hard time even just being alive.

Have you heard of "separation anxiety"?

Imagine this.

Imagine your beloved pet is lonely, distressed, crying, screaming, self-mutilating, and dying because they cannot see you, a parent.

This is not an exaggeration. This is happening in reality all over the world right now.

In Japan, the number of pets suffering from separation anxiety is rapidly increasing.

But why is that?

Let's take the case of Mr. A, an office worker.

During the COVID quarantine period, he got a pet because he started working from home, and spent more time at home. A few months ago, however, he went back to the office. The pet left at home became lonely and stressed, which resulted in developing anxiety separation disorder...

There is no end to such cases, and the number of pets suffering from separation anxiety is rapidly increasing.

Our precious pets are suffering due to problems created by humans, and 

we are responsible for solving the problems we have created.

What we can do

Our goal is to create a world where dogs can live with the least stress possible.

However, direct intervention such as changing pet food or becoming a veterinarian would require qualifications...

Now, what can we do without any qualifications?

After spending so much time trying to come up with solutions, we came up with an answer:

To make music.

With knowledge of music, we could try to make healing music that works on pets.

Since we came up with this idea, we have devoted a large part of our college life to developing music specifically designed to relax animals.

The shady healing music that abounds in the world...

You might think that healing music can be easily found on YouTube.

But are they based on scientific evidence?

There are very few healing music pieces out there, that have scientific evidence. They are not powerful enough to heal over-stressed dogs.

”I need to tackle the problem of separation anxiety in pets!”

Since I made this determination, I have encountered so many challenges and worked on them one by one.

What is music effective on animals?

while there have been studies on finding elements of music that are effective for humans, very few studies have been conducted on pets. It was such an unprecedented attempt to develop music that works for animals.

We had to formulate a hypothesis and prove it through several experiments.

Our team members of different backgrounds gathered for this one goal, such as a professional composer, and a teacher who helped us with our research.

After managing to obtain a research grant from Waseda University, we finally started our experiments in the laboratory of Azabu University.

Experiments were constant processes of trial and error. After developing our first sample music under the advice of Professor Uetake, we then began our experiments with animals.

We made a list of various sound elements that might be related to the increase or decrease of stress hormones, and composed music for each of them.

It took two to three months to try one new sound element at a time.

The experiment alone took two years in all.

As a result, we found sound elements that seemed to work.

In addition, we were thoroughly committed to making the music easy for humans to listen to.

We collected saliva samples from the pets before and after listening to the music and analyzed the levels of hormones that indicate the intensity of stress.

Finally, we created the music!

One-by-One Music incorporates a variety of natural sounds as well as special sounds that have been tested and proven effective.

Just as we humans listen to music to relieve stress, our precious pets can live healthy lives through music.

The idea behind "One by One"...

Aiming to be the only one, aiming to be the number one, working hard, working as one...

Many thoughts go into One by One. We did not name it "one (wan, or bow-wow in the Japanese language)" simply because it is a dog.

Dogs heal us and support us every day.

If you had a pet as a kid, you probably have the experience of being helped by your dog when you were going through a difficult time.

We want to create a wonderful world where people and pets help each other and live together as ONE family.

That is why we want to stick to "ONE".

I started this crowdfunding, because

1. I want to raise awareness on pet's separation anxiety

2. I want people to take action, even little by little for the sake of their pets.

We want to change the world where pets are victims of humans.

We want to make the world a place where pets and humans heal and help each other.

So please spread the word about this issue of separation anxiety in pets.
