ナマステ～！もえです！今日は現地インドから届いたメッセージをご紹介します。

ディベンドラさん(↑写真左)は、BEAMスクールの運営を担ってくださっている現地NGO「Niranjana Public Walfare Trust」の代表を務める方で、私たちBEAMの大切なパートナーです。ひとつ前の活動報告でニランジャナについてご紹介しているので、ぜひ併せてご覧ください！

ディベンドラさんは、この地域では比較的裕福な家庭で生まれ育ちましたが、決して自分の立場におごることなく、いつも相手のことを思いやり、手を差し伸べる本当にあたたかい方です。「貧しい人たちのために何かできることはないか」とみずから村の貧困家庭を一軒一軒回り、子どもを学校に通わせるよう親を説得したり、病気で困っている人がいればニランジャナの無料診療所へ行くよう促したりします。私たちがスタディツアーで訪印したときも、いつも私たちのことを気にかけてくださり、現地の子どもたちはもちろんのこと、BEAMメンバー皆からも慕われるやさしい人柄の持ち主です。

I am Devendra. I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart on behalf of Niranjana Public Welfare Trust for sparing precious time, your kind donation and serving us in our Beam School.

ー 初めまして、私はディベンドラと申します。貴重なお時間を割いてBEAMスクールにご支援頂いている皆さんに、ニランジャナ トラストを代表して、心より感謝いたします。

Education is perhaps one of the most important ingredients to a happy, successful and constructive life. In fact, having access to a good education during childhood and early adulthood can make a real difference in later life. So many children are born talented, have imminence capacity for understanding and are naturally bright.

ー 教育は、幸せで成功した人生を送るために、もっとも重要なものではないかと考えています。実際に、子どものころに良い教育を受けることで、その後の人生に変化をもたらすことができます。多くの子どもたちは、生まれながらにして才能を持ち、物事を吸収する力があり、ありのままで輝いているのです。

But poverty has deprived them of an education. When we see these poor students of Nima village, we feel very sad to see their situation. We contact their parents and ask them for their education, but they don't know the importance of education. At the beginning, we struggled to attract students, but we are thankful to Beam members, they constructed Beam school and support us all the facility for students. Now we are so satisfied to see the achievement of our students.

ー しかし、貧困により教育の機会を奪われている子どもたちがいます。私たちがニーマ村の貧困の子どもたちに出会ったとき、彼らの置かれている状況を見て、とても悲しい気持ちになりました。彼らの両親と話をし、子どもたちに教育を受けさせるよう頼みましたが、大人たちは教育の重要性を理解しておらず、はじめは子どもたちを学校へ通わせるのにも苦労しました。BEAMメンバーのおかげでBEAMスクールを建設することができた今は、学校に通う子どもたちの日々の成長を見ることができ、わたしたちトラストのスタッフも村の大人たちも大変満足しています。

Beam School gave the new life to the Nima students. Before Beam School was established, the children of Nima village were either doing work in brick factory or spending time in playing. No educated people was in that village. After Beam School opened, most of the children are in school. Beam School is the hope of poor children of Nima village. It provide opportunity to change their life through education. Not only students also we see the big changes in their family and society. They learn good manner and also they try to teach their illiterate parent and neighbors.

ー BEAMスクールは、ニーマ村の子どもたちに、新たな人生を与えてくれました。BEAMスクールができるまで、子どもたちはレンガ工場で働いたり、ただただ遊んで毎日を過ごしていました。村には、教育を受けた人が誰もいなかったのです。しかし、BEAMスクールができてから、ほとんどの子どもたちが学校に通うようになりました。BEAMスクールは、ニーマ村の貧しい子どもたちの「希望」です。教育を通じて、彼らの人生を変える機会を与えてくれています。そして、子どもたちだけでなく、その家族や村社会全体にも大きな変化がありました。子どもたちはマナー・礼儀を学び、読み書きのできない両親やご近所さんたちに、学校で学んだことを教えるようになったのです。

The children and their parents of Nima village are always thankful to the Beam members and supporters for great support. To get education is dream of them. It became true through you all. Now they are happy and satisfied. Many of the students graduated from here and are getting higher education. The children of Nima village often tells us that Beam School brings a lot of happiness and changing in our life and family life.

ー ニーマ村の大人も子どもも、BEAMメンバーや支援者の皆さんに対して、いつも感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。教育を受けることは、彼らの夢です。あなた方皆さんのおかげでそれが現実のものとなりました。ここBEAMスクールを卒業した子どもたちの多くは、高等教育に進んでいます。そして、「BEAMスクールがたくさんの幸せをもたらし、自分自身の人生だけでなく、家族の人生をも変えてくれた」と話してくれています。

At the first time when we visited the village, we shocked to see the many problems. We felt we were not able to solve all the problem. But we feel if we educate them, in the future they can solve many problems by themselves. In this way, we are always trying to bring a little smile on the face of the children who are suffered a lot in life. Without the support of Beam members, we couldn't achieve the goal. 

ー はじめて村を訪れたときは、問題が山積みの状況にショックを受けました。すべての問題を解決するのは不可能なのではないか、とも思いました。しかし、今は違います。彼らが教育を受けることで、将来的に彼らが自分たちで問題を解決していってくれるに違いないと感じています。このようにして私たちは、日々の暮らしの中で多くの困難を強いられている子どもたちが少しでも笑顔になるようにと、日々挑戦し続けています。BEAMの支援がなければ、私たちは目標を達成することができませんでした。

My humble request to all of you is to try and help us out in any possible way. It might be money or through providing services. It will be a lot of help to us for the bright future of poor children of Nima village.
