はじめまして！
昨年9月に京都市下京区に新しくオープンしました、B&B宇凪院（UnagiInn)で
マネージャーをしております、Kumiと申します。

ゲストが快適に過ごせる場所であるよう、一切妥協せずこだわりをもって、
やっとの思いで京都に建てた宿です。日本らしさを大切に
ところどころで日本の良さを感じていただけるよう、日本庭園や和紙照明・畳があり、
併設する日本酒バーにはオーナーセレクトの、プレミアムな日本酒も数多く揃っております。

そんな私は2年間の海外生活を終え、日本に帰ってきてすぐ、素敵なオーナーとのご縁をいただき、
オープン当初から宇凪院で働いております。
宿泊業に関しては未経験、ゼロからのスタートでしたが、楽しいことが大好きな私にとって、
ゲストに楽しんでいただけるイベントの企画や、日本ならではの経験をしてもらるような企画ができる、
この場所が大好きです。

また、一緒に働いてくれている仲間も、海外生活経験者や、これから海外で生活してみたい！
とそれぞれ夢をもっている子たちばかりで、色んなアイディアを出し合いながら、
日々奮闘しております！

Hello, I'm Kumi, the manager of B&B Unag Inn ,which opened last September in Kyoto.

We would like all our guests to feel comfortable, and experience a Japanese atmosphere. Here, at UnagiInn, there is a Japanese garden, Japanese traditional light, and a tatami box at shared place. Also there is a Japanese Sake bar with a special selection of sake that our owner selected.

I've been working here since I came back to Japan after living in Australia.
I love working here because I can organize events and Japanese original experiences that makes guests happy.

All of my co-workers have been to foreign countries and want to keep travelling in the future.
We are working hard every day to be better for our guests.

B&BとはBed and Breakfastのこと。海外では有名ですが、
日本ではまだ聞きなじみがないかと思います。
料金には宿泊＋朝食も含まれている、英語圏で多いタイプのお宿です。

ドミトリー（1室に複数ベッドがあるお部屋）のお部屋が2部屋、個室が9室あり、
1階の共有スペースには、とても広い共同キッチンがあり、調理器具は豊富にご用意しております。
もちろん関西ならではのたこ焼き器も自由に使っていただけますよ♪

B&B means Bed and Breakfast, it's famous in other countries, but not in Japan. So that's one of the many features that make us special.

There are 2 dormitory rooms, 9 private rooms, and a large kitchen that includes kitchen tools.
Of course, you can use the Takoyaki machine anytime♪

4人部屋個室（ドミトリーにはカーテンがあるのでプライベート空間も守られます）

ドミトリーと聞くと、狭くて、寝心地が良くなさそう、というイメージありませんか？
そんなイメージを払拭するのが宇凪院です。オーナーの一番のこだわりと言っても過言ではない、
全ベッドに”シモンズ”のマットレスを使用しているんです！
高級ホテル並みの寝心地の良さ、そして！！枕元ライトとUSBコンセントが
すべてのベッド1つ1つに備え付いてますので、驚くくらい快適にお過ごしいただけます。

また寝心地にこだわりすぎて、枕まで選べるようにしちゃいました！
ノーマルタイプの枕は予めセットさせていただいておりますが、
ご自身の寝姿勢に合わせて5種類のタイプの枕からお好きなものを選んでいただけるので、
ご自身のベッドより快適に眠っていただけるかも？
もちろん毎日違う種類の枕を試していただくことも可能です☆！

What's your image of a dormitory bed? You imagine narrow bed, not comfortable, not enough space...right? Well, this is not us! We use "Simmons" mattress which are famous in the world for their ergonomic comfort.
We are like a luxury hotel, and each bed comes with a personal light and a USB socket.
You will be surprised at us.

One more special thing is the pillow. You can choose your favorite pillow. We already set standard one in advance, but there are 5 different kind of pillows. You might even be able to get better sleep than usual. Of course, you can try and change them every day as you please.

アイルランドの祝日をお祝いするセントパトリックデーパーティー

日本の料理に興味のあるお客さまにはお料理教室を開催したり、
週末にはパーティーを開催し、ゲスト同士が関われる、新たな友達作りができる国際交流にもなります。
また、Language exchangeの場も設け、英語だけでなくフランス出身のスタッフがFrench Language Exchangeも担当しております。
宿泊時に快適に過ごしていただくことはもちろんですが、より楽しい思い出を残して
帰っていただけるよう、スタッフ1人1人の特技を活かしたイベントを多々行っております。

We have a cooking class for guest who are interested in Japanese food and we have a party on weekends, which all the guests are welcome.
We also provide English and French language exchange.

We try to have some original events  and experiences for guests because we would like them, not only to be comfortable, but also have fun and create good memories.

オープンわずか1カ月で、京都の紅葉シーズンを迎え、宇凪院を知ってくださったお客様が
世界中からお越しくださいました。初めてのことばかりで、未熟ながらも
ゲストのみなさまの温かい声と笑顔のおかげで、繁忙期を乗り越えることができました。
12月に入り、少し静まった冬の京都で、次のシーズンに向け反省・改善点を既存スタッフで話し合い
さらにパワーアップした宇凪院になれるよう、スタッフ数も増やし、
喜んでいただける案を次々と企画・提案している最中、2月入ってすぐのコロナウイルス報道。。。

2月以降、新規のご予約がないことはもちろん、世界中でフライトのキャンセルや、
渡航自粛などが報道されるようになってから、既存のご予約も続々とキャンセルが続き、
今後2020年内の全予約キャンセルという状態となりました。

世界中で、コロナウイルスで苦しんでいる方・亡くなった方がいらっしゃる中、
京都へお越しくださいとは言える状況ではございません。
新たなビジネスを始めるタイミングでもないことはオーナー共々承知しております。
しかし…オーナーがこだわって建てた宿の継続、宇凪院で働きたい！
と言って日々奮闘している仲間たちの夢が、このままの状況が続けば、
崩れ落ちてしまう可能性も出てまいりました。

コロナウイルスの影響が世界中でいつ収まるかわかりません…
それでも、状況が落ち着いたら、今回京都旅行を楽しみにされていた世界中の方々が、
また戻ってこれる場所になれるよう、また日本中の方・地元京都の方にも、宇凪院知っていただき、
楽しそうだから遊びに行きたい！と思っていただける宿にしたい。この夢は絶対に諦めたくありません。

When we opened this hostel in the fall, many guests visited us from all over the world.
We were a new business but made a big effort to provide full service, encouraged by the smile of the guests.

 From December, it started to be very calm, so we plan future events, talk about improvements and got new staff for next season. However, the situation suddenly changed due to corona virus....

From February, we haven't had any new bookings, pre-bookings were all canceled, and we don't have any bookings in the future.

We can't say "please come to Kyoto" at the moment because there are too many victims of the virus all over the world, this is why we are facing the possibility of closing the hostel.  I really want to keep this hostel working, and I want all staff's dreams to come true.

No one can be sure when the situation will get better. But we want to become an awesome place that welcomes people who want to travel to Kyoto at this time, and hopefully can come back in the future! We also would like Japanese and local Kyoto people to know our place as well.
This is my dream, and I will never give up.

新規予約の見通しがつかない間、宇凪院を継続させていくための資金として使用させていただきます。
また、毎月収入がゼロのなかでのスタッフの人件費（可能な限り最低限で運営してます）や
今後のコロナの影響拡大によっては宿泊以外の販路拡大策を練り、赤字回復をさせるための資金として使用させていただきます。

影響が収まり、京都に来られた際には、宇凪院に遊びに来たくなるようなイベントや体験の準備資金として使用させていただきたく存じます。

We want to use this system until the hostel is running perfectly and we get constant bookings.
We would need your funds to cover the monthly expenses  of our staff, to expand our business and to cover the depts.

Once we get on our feet, we will prepare interesting events and a lot of activities for you.

状況が良くなった日には、世界中が元気を取り戻した日には、今年の桜を見に来れなかった1人でも多くの方に、京都に戻ってきてほしいという思いでいっぱいです。あるオーストラリアからのゲストは、予定より滞在することができず
”来年必ずココに戻ってくる！”と言って
宇凪院にディンゴ(オーストラリアの犬）のぬいぐるみとコアラを置いて帰ってくれました。

まだオープンして半年という、未熟な私たちですが、
そんな風に言ってくださるゲストがいることへの感謝の気持ちを忘れず、
日本のゲストの方にも宇凪院の楽しいイベント・サービスを今後もお届けしたいと思っております。
