ご挨拶

私たち「さくら会」は、熊本県人吉温泉女将の会として、女将11名、若女将4名の計15名で、人吉球磨の観光を盛り上げるべくさまざまな活動を行ってきました。

春は「人吉球磨はひなまつり」において、お雛様が華やかに飾られる街なかでおもてなしをし、秋には「ノスタルジック人吉」と題して、大正レトロな着物やドレスに身を包んでSL人吉を出迎えます。

そういったイベントの主催やキャンペーン以外にも、日常的に熊本―人吉間をつなぐSL人吉や、ローカル列車「いさぶろうしんぺい号」、D&S列車「かわせみやませみ」のお出迎え・お見送りを行い、人吉の玄関口人吉駅にて、お客様をおもてなししてきました。

プロジェクトを立ち上げた背景

人吉に恵みをもたらしてきた球磨川は、「暴れ川」としても知られています。これまでもたびたび洪水の被害を受けてきました。

しかし、今回の令和2年7月豪雨では未曾有の被害がもたらされました。5m以上の浸水が見られた地区もあり、人吉市民、そして事業所の多くが被災しました。

さくら会所属の女将たちの旅館・ホテルも多くが景観のためにも球磨川沿いに位置しており、未曾有の洪水発生により浸水、一部は全壊にまで追い込まれました。地下設備はすべて使えなくなり、被害額は計り知れません。人吉市全体としても、たくさんの個人事業所、飲食店が被害を受けました。

このプロジェクトで実現したいこと

私たち「さくら会」の旅館・ホテルは、新型コロナウイルスの影響で４月から６月にかけて休業を余儀なくされ、売り上げが昨年対比で9割以上の激減するなど、大変な影響を受けました。さらに追い打ちをかけるように、この度の令和2年７月九州豪雨によって、われわれの観光の魅力の一つであった球磨川が氾濫しました。球磨川沿いに建つ旅館・ホテルが多いために、さくら会の女将すべてが被災しました。現在、女将たちは皆、各々の旅館・ホテルの復旧に、毎日勤しんでいる状況です。

それでもこれまで人吉球磨の観光を縁の下の力持ちとして支えてきた「さくら会」は、このふるさとのいち早い復旧、そしてまた魅力的な小京都となれるよう尽力していく心構えでいます。

しかしながら、さくら会のトレードマークであるピンクの法被、また女将の着物や「ノスタルジック人吉」で使っていた大正レトロの着物、「ひなまつり」用のひな人形などさくら会の活動に必要なものはほとんどが濁流にさらされ、使い物にならなくなってしまいました。

人吉の大きな魅力の一つである人吉温泉女将の会「さくら会」が今後も人吉市を盛り上げていくための手助けをみなさんにお願いしたいと思っております。

私たちの地域のご紹介

私たちのふるさと人吉は、九州山地に囲まれた人吉盆地に位置し、日本三急流の清流球磨川の流れる郡市町村と共に、日本遺産「相良700年が生んだ保守と進取の文化 ～日本でもっとも豊かな隠れ里―人吉球磨～」に認定されました。 国宝青井阿蘇神社をはじめ、相良三十三観音ほか、さまざまな神社仏閣があります。人吉温泉、球磨焼酎、そして四季折々の食を提供し、訪れる人々の心を癒してきました。

人吉温泉、球磨焼酎を提供するさくら会所属の旅館・ホテルも、この魅力的な小京都・人吉において、多くの人々の心のよりどころとなってきました。与謝野晶子・鉄幹夫妻も人吉温泉に滞在し、短歌をいくつも詠まれています。温泉にゆったりと浸かり、人吉の美食に酔いしれる。そんな非日常をわれわれは提供してきました。

We would like to introduce ourselves briefly: 

We are the Sakura-kai Association, a group of fifteen hosts of Japanese inns and hotels in Hitoyoshi in Kumamoto Prefecture on the southern island of Kyushu in Japan. 

Through our volunteer work, we try to preserve Japanese traditions and promote tourism in our region. For traditional regional events, we create elaborate decorations and contribute to the preservation of customs with traditional costumes, typical of the Japan. 

An old railway line from Kumamoto via Hitoyoshi to Yoshimatsu and back was lovingly restored. This train and its guests are regularly welcomed by us in traditional costume (Kimono). 

Our hometown Hitoyoshi at the beautiful river Kuma is located in the Hitoyoshi Basin surrounded by mountains and is recognized as Japanese cultural heritage.

There are numerous shrines and temples, including the National Treasure Aoi Aso Shrine and Sagara 33, the 33 holy statues of the Goddess of Mercy. 

The inns and hotels belonging to our association have become a spiritual center for many people. Akiko Yosano and her husband Tekkan visited the hot spring in Hitoyoshi and wrote several tanka poems there. 

The people in Hitoyoshi are warm and open-minded, they offer delicious regional dishes and the famous Kuma Shochu (rice liquor). 

The effects of the Corona 

The pandemic has hit us very hard. Then in July 2020 came the floods with inundations of the city area of catastrophic proportions. Most of the factories in Hitoyoshi are located near the river and have to be completely rehabilitated. At present, all the owners are working hard everyday to restore their restaurants and hotels. 

Many items needed for the activities of our Sakura-kai association, such as the pink Happi coat, kimonos, and dolls for the Hinamatsuri festival have been destroyed by the muddy waters. 

For our association to continue its activities, we would like to ask you for a support. Your kind support will be used for the following purposes: 

Costumes for cultural events, Purchase of Hinamatsuri dolls, The costs for the realization of various events.

Wir möchten uns kurz vorstellen:

Wir sind der Sakura-kai Verein, eine Gruppe von fünfzehn Gastgeberinnen von japanischen Gasthäusern und Hotels in Hitoyoshi auf der Südinsel Kyushu in Japan. 

Durch unsere ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit versuchen wir die japanischen Traditionen zu bewahren und den Tourismus in unserer Region zu fördern. Für traditionelle regionale Veranstaltungen erstellen wir aufwendige Dekorationen und tragen mit landestypischen Trachten zum Erhalt des Brauchtums bei. 

Liebevoll restauriert wurde eine alte Eisenbahnstrecke von Kumamoto über Hitoyoshi nach Yoshimatsu und zurück. Dieser Zug und seine Gäste werden von uns regelmäßig in Trachtenkleidung (Kimono) begrüßt. 

Unsere Heimatstadt Hitoyoshi am wunderschönen Fluss Kuma liegt im Hitoyoshi-Becken umgeben von Bergen und ist als japanisches Kulturerbe anerkannt.

Es gibt zahlreiche Schreine und Tempel, darunter der Nationalschatz Aoi-Aso-Schrein und die Sagara 33, die 33 heiligen Statuen der Göttin der Barmherzigkeit. 

Die zu unserem Verein gehörenden Gasthäuser und Hotels sind für viele Menschen zu einem spirituellen Zentrum geworden. Akiko Yosano und ihr Ehemann Tekkan besuchten die heiße Quelle in Hitoyoshi und schrieben dort mehrere Tanka-Gedichte. 

Die Menschen in Hitoyoshi sind herzlich und aufgeschlossen, es gibt köstliche regionale Gerichte und den bekannten Kuma Shochu (Reisschnaps). 

Die Auswirkungen der Corona

Pandemie haben uns sehr stark getroffen. Dann kam im Juli 2020 das Hochwasser mit Überschwemmungen des Stadtgebietes von katastrophalen Ausmaßen. Die meisten Betriebe in Hitoyoshi liegen in Flussnähe und müssen vollständig saniert werden. Gegenwärtig arbeiten alle Besitzerinnen täglich hart an der Wiederherstellung ihrer Gaststätten und Hotels. 

Viele Gegenstände, die für die Aktivitäten unseres Sakura-kai Vereins benötigt werden, wie der rosa Happi-Mantel, die Kimonos und die Puppen für das Hinamatsuri-Festival sind durch die schlammigen Gewässer zerstört worden.

Damit unser Verein weiterhin seine Aktivitäten durchführen kann, möchten wir Sie um eine Spende bitten. Ihre Unterstützung wird für folgende Zwecke verwendet: 

Kostüme für kulturelle Ereignisse Kauf von Hinamatsuri-Puppen Die Kosten für die Durchführung verschiedener Veranstaltungen
