「スポーツは、人と人との間にある壁を取り払い、誰にでも通じる特別な共通言語になる。」

そう語るのは、YASDでプログラムオフィサーを務めるパール・ファライ・ガンビザ。

政治学を学び、その後、開発学と子どもに配慮した社会政策の修士号を取得。現在は、地域社会の発展、ジェンダー平等、そして社会正義の実現に向けて、スポーツを通じた活動を続けています。

なぜ彼女は、この仕事に人生を捧げることを選んだのでしょうか。そして、ホームレスワールドカップにはどんな力があるのでしょうか。

私がコミュニティ開発や社会課題の解決に携わるようになったのは、「生まれ育った環境や貧困によって、若者の未来が決まってしまってはいけない」という強い思いがあったからです。

ジンバブエで育ち、働く中で、教育機会の不足や高い失業率、薬物・アルコール依存、そしてジェンダー不平等など、多くの若者が厳しい現実に直面している姿を目の当たりにしてきました。

私は、こうした課題を学問として研究するだけではなく、現場で実際に解決につながる取り組みをしたいと考えていました。スポーツや地域が主体となる活動には、人と人との壁を越え、誰もがつながることのできる力があると信じています。

困難な環境にいた若者が、自信を持ち、地域を支えるリーダーへと成長していく姿を見ること。それこそが、私がこの仕事に人生を捧げている理由です。

Why Did You Start Social Work?

My journey into community development and social impact was driven by a deep-rooted belief that structural poverty and social marginalization should not dictate a young person's future. Growing up and working in Zimbabwe, I saw firsthand the staggering challenges faced by youth—ranging from lack of educational opportunities and high unemployment to drug substance abuse and gender inequality.
I didn't just want to study these systemic issues from an academic standpoint; I wanted to be on the ground creating tangible solutions. I chose this path because sports and community-led initiatives offer a unique, universal language that breaks down barriers. Seeing a young person transform from a vulnerable bystander into a confident community leader is precisely why I dedicated my life to this work.

選手にとって、ホームレスワールドカップへの参加は、単なるサッカー大会ではなく、人としての尊厳を取り戻し、新たな人生への一歩を踏み出す大きなきっかけになります。

多くの選手は、これまで社会から見過ごされたり、偏見の目で見られたり、自分の置かれた環境だけで評価されてきました。

しかし、ジンバブエ代表として世界の舞台に立つことで、彼らの人生は大きく変わります。「支援を受ける側」だった若者が、「国を代表するアスリートでありアンバサダー」として認められるようになるのです。

この経験は、彼らに深い帰属意識と大きな自信を与えます。そして、困難を乗り越えてきた世界中の仲間たちと出会い、お互いを認め合うことで、新たな希望を見出していきます。

帰国した彼らは、新たな目的意識を胸に、自らの未来を切り拓くだけでなく、今度は地域に希望を届ける存在として歩み始めます。それこそが、ホームレスワールドカップが持つ本当の価値だと私は感じています。

What Does Participating in the Homeless World Cup Mean to the Players?

For our players, participating in the Homeless World Cup is nothing short of life-altering. It is far more than a football tournament; it is a powerful catalyst for human dignity and restoration. Many of these athletes come from backgrounds where they have felt invisible, stigmatized, or defined solely by their hardships.
Stepping onto an international stage to represent Zimbabwe changes their entire narrative. It shifts their identity from "at-risk youth" to ambassadors and athletes. The experience provides them with a profound sense of belonging, builds immense self-esteem, and exposes them to a global community that celebrates their resilience. They return home with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to inspire others and actively reshape their own futures.

このチームを支援することは、単にサッカーの試合に必要な資金を提供することではなく、一人ひとりの可能性を支えることでもあります。

皆さまからのご支援は、困難な状況に置かれた若者たちが貧困の連鎖を断ち切り、薬物依存などの課題に立ち向かい、地域を支えるリーダーへと成長していくための大きな力となります。
