この度のふくいパトリックスデーにアイルランド大使がお越しくださいました。地元有志の代表としてヨシさんと一緒に私も同席させていただく機会に恵まれました。Irish Ambassador joined Fukui Patrick's Day festival.  I was given an opportunity to sit at the same table with her as a representative of Fukui locals.     食材のすべてが福井産という「お市の駕籠（おいちのかご」と銘打ったお弁当を一緒にいただきながら、大使とお話ができました。その話の中で、ロブからこの催しを福井でやろうと立ち上がったきっかけは5年前の横浜パレードだったことを私自身は初めて聞きました。このクラウドファンディングでのプロジェクトをいよいよ終了というときにようやく明かされる真実、ですね。私自身、驚きと感動で胸がいっぱいになりました。「ロブが今日のこの日を5年間夢に思い描いてきたなんて！」と。そして、昨年の9月にそのロブの熱い思いをヨシがしっかりと受け止めたこと、だからヨシには覚悟があったこと、ロブとヨシがふくいを愛し、私たちみんなを大事に大事に育てていってくれたことが納得いきました。 I had a great time to chat over nice bento boxed lunch which had wonderful dishes all made in Fukui.  During our conversation with Irish Ambassador, I heard that Rob had wanted to hold St. Patrick's Day event in Fukui since he experienced St. Patrick's parade in Yokohama 5 years ago.  I was so amazed and moved to realize the meaning of his keeping his dream for such a long time and never giving it up.   Yoshi, our local leader understood Rob's wish, and Yoshi himself had to make up his mind to step into this new challenge in Fukui.  This story behind the project let me understand the whole process of preparation in which Rob and Yoshi always nicely motivated all of us involved in this project. 私自身には2度のサプライズがありました。There were two surprises for me from Fukui Patrick's team. まず、クリスマスにはふくいパトリックスデー実行委員会からクリスマスカードが。 First was this Christmas card. ロブとヨシのサインが入ったカードが届いてあったかい人たちだな～と、じ～んとしました。 I still remember this card signed by Rob and Yoshi warmed my heart. そして、2度目がふくいパトリックスデー当日、アイルランド大使から手渡していただいたアイリッシュカラーの大きな花束。やはり、女子は花束に弱いです。こんなにボリュームある花束は人生初かも。予想だにしない贈り物に感謝の気持ちでいっぱいになりました。 Second was this hug bunch of flowers in Irish colors of green, white and orange.  I was so surpirsed to have this handed from Irish Ambassador.   Thank you so much, the Fukui Irish!   ヨシさんにもステキな贈り物が。 Yoshi also received something nice from the Fukui Irish.   ふくいパトリックスデーはアイルランドからの奇跡の贈り物です。来年も再来年も今回の感動と感謝の気持ち変わることなく続けていきます。応援よろしくお願いします。 Fukui Patrick's Day is such a lovely miracle gift from Ireland.  We will make it happen again next year with this wonderful feeling of true happienss.   Thanks million!        

2017年3月26日、福井駅前でアイルランドの春祭り「ふくいパトリックスデー」を開催させていただきました！Fukui Patrick's Day festival was successfully held on March 26th, 2017. 心配された春の嵐もしばらくおとなしくしてくれて、風の影響もほとんどなく、雨も催しの片づけが終わったころから小雨が降りだす程度でいてくれて、ミラクルを感じる一日でした。 The weather stayed on our side.   The wind was quiet most of the day, and it started raining just after we finished cleaning up the venue after the event.   ふくいパトリックスデーパレードはガレリア元町アーケード(全長150メートルくらい）をまさに埋め尽くしました。地元新聞社も福井に誕生したこのアイルランド流の交流イベントを大きく取り上げてくれました。 Fukui Patrick's parade filled up the whole area of Galleria Moromach arcade which is about 150 meter distance.   皆様の応援をいただきまして、ふくいに新たなエネルギーが沸き上がる催しができましたこと、心よりお礼申し上げます。ご出資いただきました皆様には心を込めてリターンをご用意させていただきます。なお、3月30日までご出資は可能ですので、今からでも間に合います。来年も再来年も続けられる行事として実行委員会は活動を継続して参ります。気の合う仲間がともに行動を起こすことでミラクルが生まれるんですね！今後ともふくいパトリックスデーをよろしくお願いいたします。 詳しいレポートはフェイスブックFukui Patrick's Day Festival をご覧ください。 フェイスブックFukui Patrick's Day Festival 来年もどうぞお楽しみに！ 最後にもう一つ。 フェニックス（不死鳥）の街ふくいがこの催しの成功で大いに盛り上がりました。このプロジェクトの立ち上げ当初から応援してくださっていたダブリンのウィスキー「ティーリング」のボトルラベルをご覧ください。偶然ではないご縁を感じます。これもまたミラクルですね。 フラットキッチンで今度ご一緒しましょう。お待ちしています。 ふくいパトリックスデー実行委員会一同

オリジナルピンバッジ登場です！福井県鯖江市のめがね職人さんが眼鏡枠の材料でオリジナル品を作ってくださいました。A craftsman in Sabae, Fukui who usually makes glasses frames produced the Fukui Patrick’s Day original pin badges, they are very high quality and really impressive. とても手が込んでいます。ロブさんの解説によると、めがね枠の材料であるセルロースアセテートを３色使いました。3色といってもすべてグリーン。色調が違うんですね。その３色を重ねて、まずは恐竜さんの形にくり抜きます。そして、クローバーを抜くのですが、これが面白い！３枚重ねた２枚目のライトグリーンが出るように、１枚目だけを抜くのだそうです。 As you can see, they are very fancy pins that were produced by a long complicated process.
